Running total in Power BI

Step 1:

Open Power BI desktop application and select data source as SQL Server

Step 2:

Provide sql instance name and Database details as shown in bellow

Step 3:

Select Data connectivity mode and provide SQL query

Click on OK

Step 4:

All query fields are showing in fields section

Step 5:

Drag and drop table and select required fields

Step 6:

Go to Home tab and select quick measure

Step 7:

Quick measure window as shown in bellow

Step 8:

Select running total under calculation


Step 9:

Provide base value, field and direction as shown in bellow


Step 10:

Find running total in bellow

Method 2:

Create new measure

Write running total DAX query as shown in bellow
