Custom Report Template in SSRS


Creating a custom report template is no different than creating a new report; the only exception is the placement of the report template that you created in the appropriate location so that it appears as a template on the New Item/Report dialog box.

Step 1:
Go to all programs and select Visual Studio 2008 R2




Step 2:
In files to create a new project (Ctrl + Shift + N)


Step 3:
Give report name as SSRS


Step 4:
Click ok and bellow window will appear

Step 5:
Go to solutions explorer and create a report as Template



Step 6:
Sample Template as shown in bellow


Step 7:
Click right button and Insert page header and footer


Step 8:
Go to tool box and drag & drop text box as Hindustan Aeronautics Limited


Step 9:
Click right button and insert image


Import a image to your pc


Step 10:
Template as shown in bellow


Step 11:
Go to body properties and give a body borders



Step 12:
Go to footer and drag & drop text box


Step 13:
Click preview  to view a template


For Sql Server 2008 R2 Template  location is

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\ Common7\ IDE\PrivateAssemblies\ProjectItems\ReportProject
For Sql Server 2012 Template location is
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\ Common7\ IDE\PrivateAssemblies\ProjectItems\ReportProject
