Sort Transformation


Sort is used to SORT the input data in ascending or descending order. You can apply sort on multiple columns of the input data. Let us see an example of the same.
Step 1:

Click Windows button and go to SQL Server 2008 R2 and run as an administrator.


It shows a bellow window.


Step 2:

Go to a views and create a new project (Short cut of New Project is Ctrl + Shift + N).


Step 3:

Give a project name (e.g. IS) and click OK button and then shows a bellow window.


Step 4:

To drag and drop the Data Flow Task


Step 5: 

To edit the Data Flow Task then it open a Data Flow


Stem 6:

To dag and drop the OLEDB source and edit it.


Step 7:

To take OLEDB connection and select the table from given data base and select which columns are required.




Step 8:
Drag and drop Sort Transformation into the Data Flow pane and provide connection between OLE DB Source.

Now select the transformation and edit it for setting sort properties. Select the column names on which we are gone sort the data.





Step 9:
Now drag and drop OLE DB Destination and give the output of Sort transformation and as input to the OLE DB destinations, then EDIT the destination transformation to set the connection properties.

Once the Destination is SET then trigger the package and you can see the data ordered in the order specified in SORT Transformation.



Step 10:

Take a data reader destination and view the result report.



Step 11:

Execute the task and see result output.
