Import Column Transformation


The Import Column transformation reads data from files and adds the data to columns in a data flow. Using this transformation, a package can add text and images stored in separate files to a data flow.
Step.1: 
Let’s create a table named as Text_test.


Step 2:
Here I am having some text file and file called path, where it has all the files path.


Step 3:
Click Windows button and go to SQL Server 2008 R2 and run as a administrator.


It shows  a bellow window.


Step 4:

Go to a views and create a new project ( Short cut of New Project is Ctrl + Shift + N).


Step 5:

Give a project name (e.g. IS) and click OK button and then shows a bellow window.


Step 6:
To drag and drop the Data Flow Task


Step 7:
Click on the data flow task and then drag a Flat file source .


Step 8:
Browse flat file


Step 9:
Drag and drop import column transformation


Select input column as FilePath



Step 10:
In input and output properties create a output column as TextFileColumn


Step 11:
Give a LineageID 24 of FilePath is FileDataColumnID of TextFileColumn



Step 12:
Drag and drop OLEDB destination and edit it


Step 13:
Give a connection manager and select table as Text_test


Now mapping tab map the import Column output to the table Text_test Column and press “OK”.


Step 14:
Now execute the task.


The task executed successfully. 


Step 15:
Let’s check the output table in SSMS.
